The Soldiers of Halla had an awkward ending similar to Harry Potter. After Saint Dane is defeated and peace is restored, Bobby and all of the travelers must return to Solara as spirits. This meant that they would have to leave their previous lives and friends and become a guider. Before Press sends Bobby away, Bobby asks for a bit more time to live his life.

Then the epilogue has them old with Bobby about to die. It kind of explained how their lives went with Bobby becoming an author and marrying Courtney who became a tv programmer. Mark went to MIT and invented new types of technology but died at the age of 39 by a sudden illness. Although it wasn't as clear at first, it appeared that Bobby and everyone forgot about all the flumes and traveller business and became normal people. Then came an old delivery guy. (Probably Press) who gives Bobby the journals and asks him to read about his old life before he dies and become a leader spirit in Solara. It also happens to the other 9 travelers as Press states that he's got 9 more to deliver.

Although it pretty much summed up the rest of Bobby's life, the ending was a perfect ending. I think that it didn't describe what happened to the travellers and I was hoping for a little plot hole where they might be a surprise sequel to fit in. Another problem was that Press promised that the travellers would see each other a lot after it was over, but that didn't happen. So basically the ending made everone forget about what really happened, which again is weird. Press might've have reversed time, but that was already proven to be bad. I actually think that what happened was similar to Lifelight from Veelox. It was like a real fantasy in a different dimension, when the fantasy was over, Bobby would return back to Solara.

Great ending and deserves a

Although it's been out for a week, a finally got the last book of by far one of my favourite series, the Soldiers of Halla from the Pendragon series. I was also looking for the second book in the Hunger Games, Catching Flames, but was dissapointed to find out it came out in September. Book 10 (SoH) was really good and it only took me 5 days to finish, but wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I think the main reason was that the author DJ Machale stopped using Bobby's humour as often. Bobby is still funny and everything, but in Book 1, he had that type of sarcasm and always made thing more funny. Now that he knew about everything and was able to understand the concepts of Halla and Solara, he seems more serious. He still makes jokes but their usually cheesy followed by the words. "so and so chuckled" I don't see why people chuckle, I think it's way different than laughing. Actually I think it's probably because I keep thinking of some annoying chucle in my head, and it gets annoying, especially when the joke's cheesy.

Otherwise the book was great.

I mean it had a slow start, but that was mainly because it had to explain most of the secrets that has driven me crazy. Starting off with Bobby being an alien from a place called Solara, then it starts getting hocus pocus abput spirits and I won't get into detail and you can read it yourself. The main thing is that all the travellers are back together, even some of the dead ones. The battle goes to third earth, the final territory left. Saint Dane thinks he has won. What I find interesting is that Bobby interacts with some of the travellers but not all of them. He starts with Patrick the traveller from third earth, before going to cloral where he finds Spader. They then go to zaada finding Loor and find Elli the traveller from Quillan. Together they go back to third earth before bobby goes to Eelong by himself where he finds Keesha. Gunny from first earth makes short appearances in Eelong. That leaves Alder from Denduron, Siry of Ibara, Aja Killian of Veelox. Although Alder has made a lot of appearances in the series, Siry was only in the eigth book and Aja was in the 4th and 8th.

Awesome book and even with the cheesy jokes, still gets a

The Last Olympian was a fun book to read, and was one of my favourite books ever. Yet every time I read a Percy Jackson book. I always find it easy to believe the greek mythology could exist in our world, that monsters were everywhere, and that demigods exist. That is until after I am finished reading the book and start reflecting about my favourite parts, the secrets that have been answered, and the places that don't make sense. The last olympian has a lot of cool facts about greek mythology, but when you add so much detail, it's hard to believe that people have never seen them before, especially because they sometimes actually interact with humans and walk beside them. Another part is the fact that if Greek Mythology was real, why don't people believe them today, Zeus said they were more powerful in western civiliztion, but nobody believes in him. Whereas in Ancient Greek Civilization, they had shrines, temples and more all dedicated to them. Finally, people keep saying that nobody has ever cheated death from Hades and escaped the underworld, but I think that Percy had escaped at least 3 times in this series. Not saying it's a bad book, but after reflecting a bit, I think that you get to understand the book a bit more.

The book I am currently reading is Pendragon Before the War. This book is one of the special spin off series, and this one is off my favourite series, Pendragon. The first book of the series contains 3 stories of travellers and how they lived their life before they found out that they were travellers and was on a mission to help save the world. In this book, the three travellers are Keesha (a klee, that's like a black panther) from Eelong, Gunny (a guy from the 1930s) from First Earth, and Vo Spader (a guy who lives in this ocean world) from Cloral. Although they aren't the first travellers Bobby meeys, they are all very important they were all parts of the 5th Pendragon book, Black Water.

Although the book isn't very bad, it isn't as good as the Pendragon books are themselves. I think I like Pendragon a lot because I like reading the view in Bobby's perspective, he's funny and he really makes you think. He connects with you a lot and he has thoughts that you would have if you experienced the brink of the destructions of the worlds.

Unlike that, these stories are good, but they aren't the same Bobby style, Keesha is too serious and strict, she doesn't really have any humour, and her world is just way too weird. (as in Eelong) I wouldn't reccomend reading this book unless you are a die hard Pendragon fan. In fact, I'm finding it hard to read the book myself, homefully once i get to Gunny's story, it will be better. Gunny usually finds a way to make me laugh.

So far, I would have to give the book a rating of

This is another blog about one of my favourite books, the Last Olympian. As you may have read in my previous blogs, the Last Olympian is the final book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Lately, I've been pondering about the final prophecy the new Oracle says. "Seven half-bloods shall answer the call. To storm or fire, the world must fall. An oath to keep with a final breath. And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death." This was supposed to be the next great prophecy. Then I though of the prophecy that Percy got himself. That on his 16th birthday, he was going to have a choice to save the world or help Kronos conquer it. And if he chooses right, there would be a final battle. And only 1 could survive. Later the prophecy tells about the hero's soul that the cursed bade would reap. Originally Percy thought he was the Hero, but he wasn't. Luke was.

Now thinking about that prophecy, it reminds of another prophecy from another great book. Harry Potter. If I'm not mistake, I'm pretty sure that the prophecy was the Harry and Voldemort were to battle each other in the end, and only one could survive. I find that quite ironic, as the prophecies are quite similar. I guess all great books think alike!

Tuesday May 5th was a special day... if you are a Percy Jackson and the Olympians FAN!!! (Many people are), that's because the final book of the series, "The Last Olympian" is out and will answer all of the secrets untold, especially the cliffhanger from the fourth book, where it ends before he tells Percy the plan. So, since it was a special occasion, I had a race with my friends to see who got the book first, sadly I came 3rd. I guess 7:30 was a bit too late... (I didn't think they'd actually go get it though...)

First of all, the Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a special type of book, and like Pendragon, it is written in first person, (past-tense though, so it already happened). The main story revolves around greek mythology and how it is real and alive today. Of course it's hard to find the story practical when the sun is being pulled by the god Appollo on his chariot while he is still in Mount Olympus, the story is well described and well thought, you pretty get everything explained to you that involves greek mythology.

One of the main reasons I've liked the series is the ability for the book to use greek mythology to explain science. Although greek mythology itself already explained how thunder worked, (Zeus) it still is hard to make sense. The author kind of puts a spin in the story and makes you think of all the things that make sense, not the weird places that don't make sense.

The story takes place in New York, half-way accross the world from Greece. But apparently, Greek Mythology moved to western civilization after western civilization became more powerful. Mount Olympus itself moved to the top of the Empire State Building. One of the main places I find interesting is that the sea of Monsters, a scary wicked place is located exactly where the Bermuda Triangle is, that explains the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. Along with the gods, there are also a lot of monsters, but humans can't see them because of the "mist" kind of like the demons from the City of Bones series, people can't see them.

I finished the book in 3 days, and it was a very good book. At first, when I heard it would be the last book in the series, I was a bit dissapointed. Yet once again, there is a bit of a cliffhanger in the end where the oracle announces a new prophecy. Then in the author's note, the author (Rick Riordan btw) says that he is happy to finish the first series in the Camp Half Blood series, I also read on his website that he is preparing to right the second series and is saying that although the main characters will be different, Percy and other main characters will make cameo appearences. The first book of the series is said to come out in 2010.

The Last Olympian obviously gets a

I finally finished Pendragon, and now that it's been a month since I finished the Mortal Instruments series, I'm really starting to think it's a really good book. This time, Pendragon 9 Raven Rise would probably be better than the other ones, although it did have a hard to keep up type of action going on, it was a fun book to read. It's not a very easy simple book to read though, you will start to think and wander about the universe, space and stars. That's why I like Pendragon, it's like a book that's a gateway to the stars. Of course, there's a lot at stake in the book, but when other books have the world in danger, this book has all the worlds in danger.

I used to like reading books where you could easily tell the bad guy is by his silly motives of doing bad things and knowing that what he is doing is bad. Today, when I read books, I find that when the antagonist knows that what he is doing is bad, then it ruins his character and the book becomes childish. Pendragon is different, the antagonist Saint Dane may seem all evil, but he actually thinks that he is more of a visionary and a leader, and is just trying to make the worlds stronger than it was before. It's a battle between philosophy, Pendragon believes every man should get equal chance and see what they do with their lives while Saint Dane believes in a group of men that are real powerful and have extreme talent to be able to survive and thrive, while they wouldn't need to worry about poverty becaue the average people were sent to compounds to do all the dirty work.

It's really just a view of how you see it work, you may think that Pendragon is right and that every man should have a chance to thrive and that it should stay the same, but our world has a lot of flaws, people believe that Saint Dane's world will be better, the world would be perfect... for the people that are in the "special group" or here on Second Earth "ravinians". Saint Dane is part of that truly evil type of person, although you only get to know him through Bobby Pendragon's voice, you would think that 99% of what Bobby said about the villain is true. His most effective weapon is his ability to persuade people into believing him or doing work for him, he always influences bad things and although he wasn't the one who did it, he was part of it.

It's characters like Saint Dane, a mysterious, evil and powerful character that makes Pendragon a good book to read.

Blog Challenge! The FREEZER...

This week's blog's challenge is to write about a book that was either so scary, so good or for whatever reason that you were forced to put it into a freezer and stop reading it. (We didn't actually have to put anything into the freezer but I would love to try putting a cookbook in there). Now I was thinking if I would do a scary book instead, but books don't really scare me. I may not read much scary books, but I don't get scared by reading, sure you picture the event in your head, but you don't find it as realistic, as detailed. Now scary movies are different, especially loud sounds and surround sound, when I hear explosions or scary music at a movie, it is way scarier. Instead, I chose a book that I couldn't put down and because of it, I kept forgetting to do my other stuff.

The book I chose was Pendragon books 6-8, this actually went on for 2 weeks, I got all 3 books as a gift and I started reading immediately. The first book (book 6) took 6 days because it was still busy and I had family over and we had a packed schedule. So I would read most of the book during the night and would usually stay up until midnight before my mom would start threatening to take away my laptop. (Sometimes I would keep reading anyways). Book 7 was worse, especially because things were looking bad in the story. I found myself reading everytime there was a break and would sometimes ignore my cousins. It took me like 3 days to finish. When I started Book 8, my cousins left, but I still had a lot of homework to do before school started. I found myself reading the book in my freetime while my mom kept asking me if I had anything homework. I'd keep saying I would do it later. It was 2 days left before school started when my mom took the book from me, just when I was at the good part too! I wonder if she put it in the freezer, cause I tried to find it...

Blog #5

It's been a while, but I haven't been reading as much lately. I had a lot of homework, and sometimes I just forgot to put something into my blog. My main book that I am reading right now is still Pendragon 9, but I am really close to finishing and am actually starting to like it.

Pendragon is interesting to me because I really like how the story describes about other dimensions of how the world really works and how time actually affects us. After learning a lot more about how our world works and how physics is so confusing and weird. It's sometimes scary to think about what might happen. Because nothing impossible, and at anytime of any moment, the sun could have a hyper-radiactive flare and destroy our whole solar system 8 minutes before we see it ourselves! (After watching the Knowing, I keep thinking that might happen).

Anyways, Pendragon isn't just some normal adventure children's book, the more I find out about the time facts and the other worlds and dimensions of "Halla". For some people, this concept is just plain rubbish. But, everytime I read it, I think I understand everything that D J MacHale wanted the Pendragon world to be like. I like it how the worlds are all in different time zones and they all have "flumes" connecting each other. But, then there's all the things that don't make sense or haven't been cleared yet like how you can control time, and death and if you were Saint Dane (antagonist) you wouldn't just use all your powers instead of distracting Pendragon all the time. I'm waiting for the final book to come out, Pendragon 10 the Warriors of Halla to come out for all the answers to these secrets.

The other book that I kind of read was The Ranger's Apprentice 2 The Burning Bridge. It's a good book, but after reading the Mortal Instruments, I can't really like the boring literature and the crude humour of this book that's written like a fantasy book. I think there's just too much describing of Will's abilities, because I find a lot of what the book says to be cheesy like how Will can't picture what would happen next and how they ask each other the dumbest questions ever.

Another bad part about the Ranger's Apprentice is it's homour, it's just not funny. I think I used to like this book when it described the disciplining of Will more. I will probably start liking it later, but right now, I'm not even going to try. Ranger's Apprentice not what I'd expected.

Blog Challenge #4

This week's challenge was to reread a book and write how you understood the book this time compared to the last time you read that book. I decided to read Pendragon #1 Merchant of Death again because I'm currently reading book 9, and have read all the other books in the series so far. I expected myself to be able to understand everything easier and being able to know why this happened. Being a series, the first book is very important as it introduces the story and the characters.

Pendragon #1 was a great book when I read it the first time, it was even better when I read it the second time. I remember the night that I got it, I finished watching a scary movie and wanted to read so I could get my mind off of aliens coming to invade our world. I decided to read Pendragon as I just got it that day, so I flip the page straight to Chapter 1 and it says: 'I hope you're reading this Mark...' That freaked me out completely!!! (guess why) I was pretty relieved when I found out it was Mark Dimond not me, but I still remember the goosebumps running up my spine as I thought of how this could have happened.

Bobby Pendragon is the main character of the series, and starts the story off with one of his journals. The book is interestly written, with one part being Bobby's journal written in past tense, while is written in the present usually following Mark Dimond or Courtney Chetwynde. Originally, I found that really confusing and awkward which made things hard to understand. After nine books of that format, I pick up almost every detail although I do no what to expect for.

Bobby seems very shy and scared in the first book and doesn't have any courage, all he wants to do is to go home. By Book 9, not only does he know that to fight Saint Dane is his duty, he's more trained and fit and has courage and experience to take down Saint Dane in a fight, unfortunately he's seriously losing the battle. Bobby's humour stays the same though. He's still funny and makes funny puns, and always wants to make me laugh. Courtney is athletic and popular and is used to being number 1, somewhere in book 4 or 5 when they enter high school, Courtney realizes that she's not so perfect anymor eand starts to lose her confidence and gets depressed. Mark is interesting because he was always nerdy, and bullies always liked to beat him up. He invents new technology in book 7 and brings it to First Earth which messes everything up and causes a change in how the Earth advanced technologically.

In Book 1, the stakes seem very low as only Denduron is at stake, even though Uncle Press does foreshadow about what would would happen if they lost Denduron to Saint Dane. In Book 9, Bobby lost Denduron after he won it in Book 1 and was losing on the territories as Saint Dane looks like he is going to win and that there is little hope left to do anything.

It is also easier for me to picture everything happening and how every character looked like and acted like. It was easier to read and I already knew what was going to happen so I went over a quick scan picking up a few details that would affect the story later on in the series. The book goes under a similar plot chart as some of the other books with things looking bad, then Bobby helps a bit just to make things worst, and then they find out who is really the bad guy. Then when all hope looks lost, Bobby saves the day.(Though, they lost Veelox in book 4).

Pendragon was a great book. The first time I would have given it a

Blog #4 part 2

I know I've been reading it, but I can't really get into it. Pendragon #9, the ninth of tenth book in what I'd say my favourite series (tops the mortal instruments). Pendragon is really good, but I can't really get into book 9 Raven Rise, like I did on the other books. I guess it's not really fair for Pendragon because as soon as I started reading it, I began the Mortal Instruments which was fresh, so I really liked it. Pendragon was still good, and I read 30 pages every 2 nights.

It got harder to pick it up instead of the City of Ashes later because a combination of the City of Ashes really getting good and Pendragon starting to get all cosmic and hocus pocus. It kind of lost the old action from the other books, with the secrets and funny humour. Then again, the stakes were getting really scary, unlike other stories where the world was in danger, in this book the worlds were in danger. What I found the spookiest was how Saint Dane had predicted every thing to happen, from his first failure on Denduron, to getting Denduron back and starting the Convergeance.

Then again, I also liked reading Pendragon because I liked the fact that they were winning and Saint Dane looked defeated. Then came the 7th book and things started to crash down. I still liked the 7th and 8th book because they wer still kind of winning, but in the 9th book, they just lose. Loads of travelers are gone now not to mention Spader and Gunny still trapped on Eelong.

And the world of Pendragon is getting really confusing with the time control that Saint Dane has comes in. Apparently he can control when he wants to pop out of the flume, but that means he could defeat the world when it was at it's early stages. Then there are the Earth's and there different times. 1st earth is in 1940s while 2nd earth is in 2000s and then 3rd earth is all the way into the 51st century! The numbering is also messed up because 3rd earth is the oldest, but they way they call it, it only makes sense if 1st earth was oldest.

Pendragon book 9: Raven Rise whould be a good book, but right now I can only give it awhich by the way is a 2/5

Blog #4

I was finally able to finish the City of Glass after all these Easter parties with my parent's friends. Still, the City of Glass is still a great book and is the most intense out of the whole 3. I'd think that it's probably because all the shadowhunters are at stake this time, as the second book was just about stopping Valentine from getting a sword. (They failed anyway) There are so many secrets revealed too. But I'm not going to tell you all of it, but this book is almost like a movie, I can almost hear that dramatic music when something scary is about to happen.

I was wondering why Jace could jump higher than the CN tower (literally, if you let him try, he could). When I read that it was because Valentine had put demon blood into his son, I bet every reader thought it meant Jace. Then there's Sebastian, and although it was still a shock when I found out he was evil, I kind of saw it coming. The big shock was when I found out who he actually was and who Jace actually isn't.

At first, I thought there might be another book, but when I read the Author's Note, I was dissapointed to find out that it was going to be the last in the trilogy. Still, there's a possibility for a sequel because Sebastian's body was never found. I'm hoping there is and that they call the next book the City of Clouds or Sky, and have the story involve more angels. We only meet Ithuriel, a tortured angel that Valentine caught and took his blood to give to Jocelyn to eat(which affected Clary). Then we meet the legendary goddess (well actually god, it turns out he's a guy) Raziel. He's not the typical angel you think about though, he's pretty mean too and seems angry that he was summoned.

Valentine? He's a gonner, and as powerful as the book describes him, I don't think he can regenerate after being shot through the chest by an angel flame, it said that you could see through the hole in the stomach and see the other side clearly. All his demons that he controlled left after that, probably deserted cause they didn't want to fight in the first place.

Alec is now officially gay, and I'm surprised that his parents don't really care. (Well if they did, the book didn't say anything about it. Magnus Bane would be his partner which is wrong in my opinion. Magnus did help a lot in the story as he did awaken Jocelyn from her sleep. Simon the vampire survived the battle and became a true vampire, but he wants to go back to NYC and try to live a normal life. Isabelle is pretty much the same although she is still sad that Max died. Poor Max. (Isabelle and Alex (Alec's) brother).

Overall, this one of the best books I've read in a long time and deserves a

Blog Challenge 3

Alright, this time the challenge is to review a book's front cover. So I decided to review the City of Glass, just because I'm currently reading it and it's really good. Like the other books, it carries the same format where you have a person in the middle, a quotoe on the person's body (not on pictures), a city underneath him/her and the Title, Author, Series stuff. I like the fact that the series's cover all carry the same format, because then you can relate to the other books you already read.

Out of the three covers, the City of Glass probably has the brightest City while the other 2 look dark and evil. The colour is very well put in and although you may not be able to tell, the covers are also shiny. And shiny stuff are cool. SHINY!!! Anyways, the third cover features a guy with a sword on the back, and if you hadn't read it yet, you'd think it was Alec, (at least I did) and that Alec would become a more main character. Now that I'm halfway, I think the guy is actually Sebastian Verlac, a totally new character just introduced in Book 3, and I just found out that he isn't who you think he is...

The font is always the same on the covers, I like that because too many fonts make it less attracting. The "City of Glass" part is also texturized so you can feel it on the cover. The cover kind of fits the story and although Sebastian has been a part of the story so far, Clary and Jace have been hogging the spotlight.

I give this book cover a rating of

After finishing the City of Bones, it didn't take me long to go get the second book in the series City of Ashes. At the book store, I was lucky to find the third (and sadly final) book of the series the City of Glass. I knew that the City of Glass was already out (the 3rd book), but seeing it there at the book store was still a surprise. I finished City of Ashes really quickly because I wanted to start reading City of Glass, I can tell you right now that I'm halfway finished City of Glass, it's only been a week since I gotten them too.

For this blog, I'm mostly going to talk about the City of Ashes. There's a few new secondary characters that play a role in the story, I think it got off to a faster start than City of Bones mainly because we knew who everybody was and how the story worked. A short summary would be that Valentine has gotten the 2nd Mortal Instrument (Big Surprise...) the Sword. And he's only using the sword to get control of powerful demons for his army, which kind of makes me confused because demons were originally his enemy next to downworlders. So, he already controls a few demons with help from the Mortal Cup, but with the sword, he can summon as much demons from whatever dimension they come from as he wants. I find that weird because he originally wanted to kill the downworlders so when the demons attack, the Shadowhunters wouldn't have to worry about downworlders and just fight the demons off. But apparently, Valentine can control all these demons like puppets with a Mortal Sword and a Cup which the Shadowhunters had. Basically, I'm thinking that Valentine's real plans are way different then what he says he wants, I think that he's in league with the demons and is trying to not only conquer Earth, but other dimensions and worlds.

A few major things happened in the story, the main one would be Simon turning into a vampire. I think it was quite ironic that Simon turned into a vampire because he was scared of them after being kidnapped by them when he was a rat. (Sounds crazy, I know but read the book then you will get it) Simon seems to be okay though even though he's dead. Although he misses sunlight a lot. Until the end, when for some mysterious, magical, magnificent, mischief reason he can go under sunlight again...

I think the City of Ashes was a good book and I can't wait to read the City of Glass. For the City of Ashes, I would gie it a

Blog Challenge #2 Website Review

My favourite author would be hard to say but one of my favourite authors, DJ MacHale had to be the author website I would be reviewing because I'm currently pretty obsessed with the Pendragon Series. Its website address is http://www.thependragonadventure.com/

My first time ever even seeing the book was during last summer when I saw my friend carrying with him the newly published Book 9 Raven Rise. But I never actually thought reading it until school started. I was at Indigo anyways to get a book club book when I came across it and thought why not, the typical book is about 400-500 pages. I finished it in about 3 days and started to buy more and more of the series. I read Book 4 in the night I got it, stayed up till 2 pm I think. I was actually pretty dissapointed that the good guys (Bobby and his friends) actually lost but it was still a really good book. I read book 6 7 8 in about a week and now I just got book 9 and am almost finished, although I don't find book 9 as good as the others, the stakes have been raised and the a lot of scary secrets have been learnt. And like all good books, the Universe is about to crumble...

Anyways, this is a website review not a book review so onto the site. The first thing I see when I get onto the site, is what I wanted to see. Really exciting news. I didn't think book 10 would be out for a while, but the first thing you see in the website is the cover of book 10 and the title: The Soldiers of Halla. Then as you scroll down, you see the clock countdown to when the book comes out May 12th, that's only a bit more than a month away! Then at the bottom of the home page, there is a very cool, very creative links for the 10 books with the spines of the book being shone, but if you hover the mouse over the spine, you get the whole cover. Clicking the link then gets you more information about the book, and a sneak peek of it.

It is full of great content and I actually learnt a lot after exploring the website. The series now has a mini trilogy named Pendragon: Before the War and it's own graphic novel for the first book the Merchant of Death. The layout of the site is very well planned and the links to all the important stuff are easily found. Unfortunately, there is no search bar, but there is a quick links area where it's like a mini slidewhow to show you parts of the website where you may not have known was there. I like all the sneak peeks and videos about the books. A great feature would have to be the forums where the fans are able to ask the author questions. Loading time would be a hard one but on my internet, it's so fast it's about less than a second. So fairly fast. They also have many contests and news that may interest people.

I think a lot of people should go visit this site because if you're already a Pendragon fan, you'll love all the unique features. But if you're not, you could easily get into the book and become a Pendragon fan.

I'd give this webiste a

City of Bones Blog Final

All right, my group isn't finished the book yet but I couldn't stop reading so I finished the book. I'll be doing my blog on the book after it's finished. First of all, I have to tell you how surprised I was when I found out that Jace and Clary were brothers and sisters. I guess I should of saw it coming, but now that I think about it, it makes so much sense that Valentine was the one who Jace grew up with and that Valentine didn't actually burn Johnathon Christopher up. Johnathon Christopher, Jace, Sound alike? Not only do they sound like, they are alike. J.C. (initials) sounds like Jace! But that doesn't mean Jace is Clary's father, Clary's father is also Valentine!!! Very, very intense. Although Clary ends up saving her mom, the book ended on a sad (will like the bad guys won) note. Unfortunately, Valentine had gotten the Mortal Cup and had gotten away into the portal to Idris, the City of Glass. The book sadly stops there but I read the preview of the City of Ashes and found out that Alex and Isabelle's mom returns and their brother Max.

Hodge, the mentor of Alex Isabelle Max and Jace was an interesting character. I thought of him as a smart, wise, strong teacher with knowledge and happiness. Turned out he was mad old freak who helped Valentine get the Mortal Cup with out being an impostor or a fake person. I found him to be really wimpy for being a traitor just to get released from his curse. Now he has a even bigger curse as the Shadowhunters will be hunting for him now.

Now that I think about it, if Clary's parents were Shadowhunters, she should be a Shadowhunter too right? So does that mean she will get to learn how to slay demons and fight? That would be really cool if she had her own powers, because she depends too much on the others.

Clary's friend Simon seemed to be extremely depressed and mad after Clary revealed how she didn't have any feelings for him. I found it weird how Simon actually did some for Clary even though she didn't do anything for him. Clary called Simon like 6 hours after the incident to help drive Clary and the gang to her house to get the Mortal Cup, I was expecting Simon to say no, but surprisingly he agreed to help them.

I really enjoyed reading the City of Bones and I hope I'll be able to get the City of Ashes and the City of Glass (I read somewhere it was out) on the weekend. I give the book overall anSteven Gerrard 5/5!!!

The Next Book in the Mortal Instruments

So far we know that the City of Bones (Book 1) and the City of Ashes (Book 2), but I was bored so I checked out Cassandra Clare's website (the author) and found out that Book 3, the City of Glass was already out and there were excerpts and reviews there. So I decided to read the excerpt, here's an excerpt of the excerpt...

Chapter One: The Portal

The cold snap of the previous week was over; the sun was shining brightly as Clary hurried across Luke's dusty front yard, the hood of her sweater up to keep her hair from blowing across her face. The weather might have warmed up, but the wind off the East River could still be brutal. It carried with it a faint chemical smell, mixed with the Brooklyn smell of asphalt, gasoline and burned sugar from the abandoned factory down the street.

Simon was waiting for her on the front porch, sprawled in the broken-springed armchair Luke had dragged out there last summer, meaning to throw away, but had never gotten around to tossing in the alley dumpster. It smelled like mildew now and there were bits of foam poking out of the rips in the upholstery, but Simon didn't seem to mind. He had his DS balanced on his blue-jeaned knees and was poking away at it industriously with the stylus. "Score," he said, as she came up the steps. "I'm kicking butt at Mario Kart."

Clary pushed her hood back, shaking hair out of her eyes, and rummaged in her pocket for her keys. "Where have you been? I've been calling you all afternoon."

Simon got to his feet, shoving the blinking game cube into his messenger bag. "I was at Eric's. Band practice."

Clary stopped jiggling the key in the lock -- it always stuck -- long enough to frown at him. "Band practice? You mean you're still --"

"In the band? Why wouldn't I be?" He reached around her. "Here, let me do it."

Clary stood still while Simon expertly twisted the key with just the right amount of pressure, making the stubborn old lock spring open. His hand brushed hers; his skin was cool, the temperature of the air outside. She shivered a little. They'd only called off their attempt at a romantic relationship last week and she still felt confused whenever she saw him.

"Thanks." She took the key back without looking at him.

City of Bones Extra!!!

When reading, I often think of food or a song when I come across a part. Sometimes when listening a song while reading, your think of the book every time you hear the song again. There's been studies trying to prove that music is a part of memory and can make you smarter. For example, while reading Harry Potter the Goblet of Fire, I was unfortunately listening to an extremely weird song that had a pretty powerful tune. Now, every time that song comes up, it always reminds me of dragons and Chocolate Frogs... Food is different, usually it's when I read it, it makes me want to eat it. Like the Hunger Games was a wild survival where food had to be gathered or hunted, this reminded me of the 100 mile diet and Survivorman.(Best show ever)

So The City of Bones was an interesting choice, but if you saw the fan trailer I posted on before, there was really good music that although wasn't too good, it got stuck in my head and that's all I've been thinking while I read the book. (BTW the name is "Guide to Marine Life" It's pretty good) Generally, I don't really think about food when I read, but it kind of made me want to get some junk food, but it wouldn't let me cause the action took forever to slow down. This book reminds me of a lot of movies and books, the Percy and the Olympians are one of the names that comes up.(The Lightning Thief is coming out as a movie soon!) Speaking of movies, the book definitely needs to become a movie. Then there's my favourite part of relating the characters to players, for some reason. After seeing the "Jace" character in the trailer, he seriously looks like Fernando Torres!
